UPCOMING SHOWS:
November 15-16 I had an artist show for my rep., Arts R Passion. The first day I sold well and am happy with the show. My next shows are at Corban College (December through January, with the reception for that show on November 30th from 3-5 p.m., and also the Albany Holiday Fair the first weekend of December and Salem Holiday Market, December 13 and 14th. Hope to see you at one of these shows.

MY WORK IS STAGED!
My larger paintings are just what the decorator ordered! Thanks to my rep. from Arts R Passion, I've been loaning out some of my work (for sale) at a variety of high-end condo showings designed to assist in the sale of the units. Most work in demand is landscape-themed so that has worked out well for me. I am currently in condos in Albany, Oregon.

MY ONE-MAN SHOW WAS FUN!
My one-man show at Salem's Elsinore Gallery was great. We had a great time meeting those who dropped by to see my latest work. My reception was fun and thanks to those who came. Pictured here is my artist representative, Georjan Bridger, (Arts R Passion) Kathy and I.

WHAT'S NEW....
I've just finished a 30 x 40" painting called "The Beacon". It is a low light view of an old church (in Albany, Oregon) at dusk.

MY OUTDOOR SCULPTURE IS WORTH SEEING!
October was a great month for me with the dedication of a major 3-D piece that I was privileged to design and oversee construction. The 5-ton Resurrection sculpture was a two-year labor of love for a friend whose memory we wanted to preserve. If you’re able to see it personally, it’s on the Corban College campus in Salem. I have posted a catalog of my unique line of clocks that are creative and thematic in design. They are reasonably priced and are the perfect accent to round out a well thought out room design.

THE FUNDRAISER WAS A GREAT EVENT
This year was another opportunity to donate to the Salem Art Association’s fundraiser auction. Last year my original oil Here Comes the Sun (see photo above) was a top money winner and brought $3,000 to the auction. I was excited that this year's piece, Mist-eria Lane sold for $1900.

LET'S GET ACQUAINTED!
I was raised near Kalispell, Montana, which is reflected in my work through a recurring theme of expansive, open spaces. As a teenager I owned and operated an independent sign company and also worked for other sign companies as a brush letterist. In college I apprenticed in graphic design at the College Press, and joined the full-time staff upon graduation. Later, while maintaining my "day job", I began doing fine art and subsequently produced 40 paintings from 1973-1977. Eventually the need to raise a family with a steady income induced me to start a sole-owner graphic design company which later became the Steve Hunt Design Group.

In 1983 I formed a partnership with a member of that group, Dave Adamson, and was president of the Adamson & Hunt Design Group until the two of us renamed and reformatted the firm into Church Art Works in 1986. I sold my portion of that firm to Dave in 1993.

I have developed my passion for creative expression and use it to produce my art. With the skills passed along from my woodworking father, I began building a line of original woodworking creations in 1994. For more than a decade I have produced a significant amount of hand-built clock cases which reflect an emphasis on creative themes. They are sold at Beac ham's Clock Company in Sisters, Oregon.

In 2005 a commissioned painting brought back the love of painting to me, and although my attention was sidetracked by cancer in 2006 I still produce an fair amount of work.

I currently work from my home studio in Salem, Oregon where I live with my wonderful wife, Kathy and our four-legged friend, Misha.

ARTIST STATEMENT
"I learned a lot through a series of lessons in oil by well-known northwest artist David Ewart, and a myriad of problem-solving discussions and observations with fellow artists.

I find that most of my learning comes on a daily basis as I am inspired by the light on a flower or a unique landscape, or seek to understand how to recreate scenes two-dimensionally. I also maintain a healthy, dogged determination to problem-solve when I am presented with a new challenge. I usually find that once a subject has captured my imagination, I don't sleep a whole lot until I can do something about it. I've become accustomed to the fact that it's just the way I'm wired.

I simply paint subjects that inspire me the most. My works are now often oils and the subjects are landscapes or variations of landscape features such as tree shapes. I can't provide much in the way of mystical, ethereal commentary on the process. The pieces are simply expressions of what I feel when I look at the beauty of light and color in a cloud formation or the saturated color of a sunrise viewed through the trees.

I enjoy traveling throughout the northwest states and paint from photographs that I've personally taken. Each work is original and I also make signed and numbered prints available for some pieces."
